Chapter 13

The bus stops in front of the hotel, and all the delegates from Group D staying at the Palácio disembark. Cillian, Simon, Clark, and Mark are among the last ones off as they are sitting towards the back. Mark claps Cillian on his shoulder.

“Meet you down at pre-dinner drinks?”

“Actually, I promised a girl I’d buy her a birthday drink upstairs. I’ll meet you guys at dinner.” Cillian answers and heads to the lifts. He enters the first one that opens and presses the button for his floor. He needs a quick shower and a change of clothes.

Once inside his room, he strips off his khaki pants and blue shirt, then hops under the shower for a quick seven-minute shower—all the essential bits. Then he dries off and pulls on clean underpants, dark blue jeans, and a crisp white shirt. He runs a brush through his damp hair, puts on some cologne, slips his feet into a pair of loafers, grabs his wallet and mobile, and heads out of the room.

Inside the lift, he presses the button for the VIP Bar on the nineteenth floor.
